Welcome to Patriot Combat sports

We continue to create innovative ways to enhance the physical & emotional well-being of our increasingly diverse membership base.

We provide a wide-range of amenities and our highly trained staff, we provide fun and effective Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training for both self-defense and sports competition. Additionally, we offer USA Boxing, USA Judo, USA Wrestling programs.

We also emphasize the importance of becoming physically stronger, healthier, through our fitness programs.

We know that a healthy society depends on the well-being of all those in the community. Therefore, our emphasis is to meet the individual needs our members through our combat sports, self-defense programs and fitness programs.

I’ve had such a great experience here, from the classmates to the instructors, they all made me feel like family and overall just an uplifting awesome experience. i am confident in my self-defence skills and knowing what to do to protect myself if i need to. the gym is set up very simple, clean, and easy to find your class and fit right in. thank you Leo and Leo Dan for being so charismatic, personal, and making us all feel individually skilled in our own ways. very glad i chose this gym to learn from.

After trying out multiple BJJ gyms in the area, I found Patriot Combat Sports. Mr. Leo is a great instructor and my son loves the classes. I was very nervous to start my first class with zero experience. Leo and Leo Dan were so kind and took me aside to learn the basics before joining the rest of the class. I felt so much more confident afterwards. The class is warm and welcoming, everyone is super friendly and inviting. If you are on the fence, don't be! Join in on the fun and learn how to box.

The gym was very clean and professional looking, and the instructors were very friendly and helped me learn the basics of boxing. We are new to the boxing world. My 13 YO daughter has struggled to find a sport that she enjoys. She wanted to build confidence, get more active and make friends. She surprised me with asking to try boxing out. I researched gyms and found Patriot Combat and made an online inquiry. Leo contacted me and we set up a trial class. The first thing I noticed was how clean the space was. The staff and students there are incredible. Right away my daughter was comfortable. Her instructor made sure to give individual attention and instruction to each boxer. As a parent, it was so great to see my kid finally enjoy a sport. Safety, growth and personal goals are prioritized. I didn’t feel pressured to join and it was a very laid back atmosphere. We are really excited to start our journey with Patriot Combat Sports!

Good environment for training. Lessons are easy to digest. Look forward to taking classes here.Edit: now that I've spent a little more time here I thought I'd update my experience. It is incredible the amount of progress I've made at this gym. Not only are there gym coaches to help train, but also many of the members are willing to help others achieve better technique. There are people here at each different stage of training and the variety helps understand the big picture. I am glad I found this gym.

I started in April of this year I was in a bad situation and I needed some help learning self-defense when I called Lou at Patriot Combat Sports He set me up with a curriculum with what I needed being at age 50 I didn't know what to expect so I told him my story and we started right away with the basics and it amazed me how fast I was learning they have such the best instructors friendly very helpful and give the best advise after a few classes my self-esteem was getting better and my confidence level was awesome I like the location in the facilities are clean a friendly atmosphere everyone treats you like family i thank God everyday for everything they taught me

I’ve been going to Patriot Combat Sports for 3 weeks and the few things that jump out to me first is the instruction and philosophy. The staff takes the time to clearly show and allow you to drill every move, while correcting and constantly giving advice. The level of camaraderie among both the instructors and the students reminds you more of a family, which keeps you coming back. The gym doesn’t focus on combat, but the arts of self defense, which is taught day one. So even if you choose not to continue on, you will have the fundamentals to be able to protect yourself from harm.

I just started going here and I was hooked from the first day. The first thing I noticed was how clean the gym was. The second thing I noticed was the instructors giving great advice, demonstrating each exercise and watching closely to each person to give constructive feedback and advice. Once I got on the mats I got the same treatment. Coach acknowledged me with constructive criticism and compliments on what i did well, Also the guys and gals in class are all very nice and the vibe here is fantastic! Coaches and students all very welcoming. I’ve only been to 2 classes, but I’m already feeling like part of the team.If you’re interested in learning combat sports for self defense or just for fun. Such a great welcoming place, everyone shares the same goal to learn. I've never felt judged once in the 6 months I've been here. Outside of combats there's alot you can take from the environment they give you. In your first 2 introduction classes you can learn basic self defense skills so even if you decide not to join you can leave with the skills to defend yourself. I think that says alot about what Patriot combat sports is about.

Sensei Leo has a really good demeanor about himself, and engages my 6 year old son and other kids in a positive and reassuring way. My son gets so excited about class and loves it. As a parent, I like that sensei Leo is instilling the life lessons that are being taught at home through jujitsu. I am from out of town and was looking for a Jiu jitsu gym to train at for about a month and came across Patriot Combat Sports. Everyone at the gym was very welcoming, respectful, and supportive right away. I never felt that I was in an unsafe environment at PCS. The teaching at PCS is unbelievable! You will learn so much if you go here! The structure of the class and the engagement of the professors and coaches is very professional. If you're looking to learn a Martial Art, especially for self-defense, Patriot Combat Sports is your place! The environment is welcoming, professional, clean, and fun. Professor Leo and Professor Mike are fantastic instructors who demonstrate right from the start that they care about your education here. Each lesson is well-organized and teaches practical skills. I have never been a fighter in my life, and was hesitant to start Brazilian Jiu Jistu because of my sensitivity to touch. We have a very active 6 year old son and often times has challenges with behavior skills. We have enrolled him in a few extracurricular activities over the last several years, but still had our challenges. I heard about this one specific organization called “Combat Patriot Sports” that has an family-oriented atmosphere. From the first day of walking in the door to check out the facilities and for our son to participate as guest in the children’s class of Jiu Jitsu, Professor Leo welcomed us with open arms. It was hard to believe the patience and structure that he has put together with these kids ages (3-7). Professor Leo breaks every technique down into an understandable steps for the youth kids to understand. Did I mention that there is a balcony where you can observe the classes. It is obvious that Professor Leo is passionate what he does and the support of his students has developed an fun, family, discipline, and safe place for our son to grow and develop his skills.

A friend of mine recommend I check out Patriot Combat Sports and so after checking out a couple of other places in town with my young son we decided to give PCS a try. I heard that it was in a church building and that Leo is a great guy who will work with you. I am so glad I visited because what I found was more than an awesome gym, I found a place we could call home and a great group of hard working, humble people who are willing to help a young family learn.As for Professor Leo, he has worked with my wife and our two young children and has made us feel right at home. The gym is clean and perfectly suited for participants and their families alike with a balcony for parents and young children to watch. Never thought we would be interested in getting my whole family involved in self-defense training, but Leo worked with us each step of the way answering all of our questions and made us feel very welcome.Thank you Professor Leo and Patriot Combat Sports for making my family feel right at home!

I have enjoyed my time learning Brazilian jiu-jitsu at Patriot Combat Sports so far. After about 3 yrs of not working out (and no jiu-jitsu background), I was very nervous to begin. However, the pacing has been great. Thankfully, the whole gym has thick mats, so falling or even getting flipped has been fun. Because of personal beliefs, my husband and I requested to only grapple with each other or each with our own gender, and we've been accommodated every time, which proves that Professor Aponte truly does care about making us feel comfortable in this new environment. I am also grateful that he has been very patient and knowledgeable in dealing with our small children. His patience has been truly refreshing! (I also like that the gym has a balcony for spectators, and that the women's dressing room downstairs has soft faux fur rugs. Nice touch.)

My husband and toddler son have recently enrolled at Patriot. First and foremost, the environment is very family-oriented and welcoming. The family classes where my husband and son can do the class together are so cool to watch. Coach Leo is exceptionally patient with my son, who is shy & reserved at first, but has been surprising us at how quickly he has come out of his shell. I strongly attribute this to Leo’s patience and love for teaching. He spends time with each child, getting to know them & their personalities. Leo genuinely cares for them and their goals in martial arts. He makes it fun for them and meets them at their level. We feel incredibly blessed to have found such a wonderful place with the kindest people to spend a lot of our time at.

Patriot combat is a great family oriented professional knowledgeable gym to practice martial arts. I’ve had the pleasure of training with both Leo and Mike the main instructors for BJJ at other gyms and they never seize to teach me something new. They’re very friendly and welcoming as well as the other patrons of the gym. They each have a million and one ways to show moves to ensure everyone will understand. If you still don’t after everyone is ready to move on one of them will personally meet with you at the end of class to give one on one instruction. Very clean and spacious ground level main gym as well as private room downstairs for lessons. Mens/womens restrooms and change rooms. Clever building choice.. The balcony inside allows a great aerial view for those waiting/spectating, and make for some great photos of your youngins training (yes even your kiddos can join!) My experience so far has only gotten better with every class. When I first signed up I was hesitant, I didnt believe I could do it. So far I'm 6 classes in and I have overcome that mentality through our great leaders, very humbling experiences coming from Patriot Combat Sports! 🙌 Much praise to the instructors who are consistently bringing something new and exciting to the mat as well! I rarely review places. However, I just wanted to say that this place is awesome. It is a very welcoming facility with a lot of great people. Leo and Mike are amazing coaches. If you are looking for a place to train I would highly recommend stopping by and checking it out.

My experience with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Patriot Combat Sports has exceeded my expectations in every way! The gym has a great community, fellow students are very supportive. Instructors are outstanding and take the time to get to know you and what you are looking for from the training. The lessons are fun and the moves are presented in a way that is easy to follow. I only regret that didn't sign up sooner. If you are on the fence about taking classes, believe me it is worth it.

Great gym with very welcoming students, incredibly helpful instructors. Family atmosphere. Also the highest level Jiu Jitsu you’ll find in the area, and very welcome to beginners as well.

The first day I entered Patriot Combat Sport I was greeted with so much kindness and compassion from everyone and coaches, I was recommended by a great friend and I’m so glad I went. Everyone is friendly which makes it a comfortable environment to learn. Coach Leo and Coach Mike are amazing black belt coaches with many years under the belt who truly care about you and help you reach your goals, their way of teaching and techniques have made me improve immensely. If you’re interested in improving yourself or skills I would highly recommend Patriot Combat Sport!

I had my first Jiu Jitsu classes here for two trial classes, Leo was a great instructor and made things easy to understand. The other people of the gym were very friendly as well. Good, clean, environment.I would highly recommend giving it a try, whether you’re experienced or just starting.

Such a fun, safe family environment. I have worked with another martial arts studio in the past, but Patriot Combat Sports is by far the best place I’ve been to. Leo is one of the best instructors that I have had the privilege to work with! Highly recommend this place!

Patriot Combat Sports offers a safe, family oriented environment for individuals to train. The instructors are helpful and able to help their students grow no matter what experience level someone may start out in. The instructors are patient and emphasize the importance of a safe training environment. This gym offers a variety of classes that you can choose from to fit what you’re looking for. My husband, three of my children and I train on a regular basis and it has been a life changer.

Coach Leo and his team are amazing! He is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain the techniques. For newbies (me), he is quite patient. If Jiu Jitsu isn't your thing, don't worry about it! The personal protection/boxing classes are also extremely helpful. This may be the best investment I've made this year.

Coach Leo Aponte is a PHENOMENAL instructor. We trained with him for months and love the way he teaches. He breaks everything down into very understandable steps and patiently answers every question you have. He is a black belt who puts careful thought into lessons. One month in particular he showed an entire series of attacks, sweeps, and defenses from a single starting position, each lesson building upon the prior one. We loved it. Beyond that, he is a tremendous, down-to-Earth friend, with a great sense of humor! It was great fun getting to know him and hearing his stories after classes, whether chatting on the mats or meeting for chicken wings at the local pub. Coach Leo represents all that’s wonderful about the jiu jitsu community. No matter your skill level, whether you come for one class or train until you’re a black belt yourself, you will be welcomed and you will have a great time.

Will My Child Become A Bully?

A specific part of our preschool and kids martial arts classes at Patriot Combat Sports in Jackson is teaching respect, and teaching when to use their new self defense training and when to NOT use them. We find that our students become more confident to stand up to bullies. And have more humility and kindness to others though their martial arts lessons.

Are Parents Allowed To Watch?

We encourage parents to watch their children in their kids martial arts lessons. We love parents getting involved! And so do their kids. Even better… join into some of our fitness & martial arts classes for adults. You’re kids will love that you have something in common. It will build a strong family bond!

Additionally, if you wanted some ‘me-time’? Simply drop them off, and go grab a coffee. They will greet you with a huge smile when you return, because they had SO much fun!

Do I Need To Be Fit For This?

No, not at all! We find that people start at varying fitness levels. But, you will find that you do get fit by doing our Jackson fitness & martial arts classes. Isn’t that the point though? A fun workout that gets results!

How Long Until I Get My Black Belt?

Truthfully, the journey to Black Belt is an individual one. Everyone can progress at a different pace. There is no judgement on students for how long it does take. What we can tell you, is that it is SO WORTHWHILE!

The self defense skills you will master can truly be life-saving!
However, the other benefits of striving for Black Belt, like perseverance, never giving up, commitment and self discipline lead to life-long success.

What Do I Need To Bring To My First Martial Arts Lesson?

Make sure you wear comfortable clothes you can do sport in! Not really suitable to practice kicks in a skirt.😳

Be sure to bring a water bottle to your fitness & martial arts classes. You will find Patriot Combat Sports in Jackson have fitness & martial arts classes for kids and adults that are a great workout and lots of fun! Most students are grinning from ear to ear by the end of the class. I am sure you will be too!

I'm Not Very Sporty or Coordinated, Will That Be A Problem?

Not at all. In fact, many students starting in our adult fitness & martial arts classes would describe themselves like that before they started. So you will fit right in!

Give yourself some time, and you will be astounded at how much you improve! You’ll find that our very experienced fitness & martial arts Instructors, are trained to keep their teaching simple. So even the most uncoordinated person will develop ‘ninja-like’ skills! Come see for yourself!
